MISSION STATEMENT

"To impact the needs of the hurting by bringing hope into cities where hunger and homelessness exists"

 

 

ABOUT

More Than a Bus is a non-profit 501c3 organization that will serve the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the homeless, poor, underserved, oppressed and mentally unstable persons (collectively the “hurting”) in communities throughout Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties where homelessness and hunger exist.  More Than a Bus will consistently provide food, personal hygiene items and articles of clothing to the hurting in those communities by traveling to the same location weekly. This will be done primarily through the work of volunteers and funded through voluntary contributions from the general public and those persons interested in the goals and mission of More Than a Bus.

THE STORY

THE PLAN

The mission shall be carried out through the following means:

I.M.P.A.C.T

- Immediate:  To provide for immediate needs of the homeless and impoverished

- Mobilize:  To travel into areas of poverty and homelessness serving individuals and families

- Partner:  To collaborate with community partners in order to help people become self-sustaining through spiritual support, life skills, employment skills and peer mentoring

- Authentic Relationships:  To put God’s love into action by valuing each person, yet holding them accountable and walking with them in their struggles

- Consistency:  To be a ministry that can be counted on by traveling to the same location weekly

- Transform:  To transform people’s lives by improving their quality of life and allowing them to find the hope in Jesus.

THE NEEDS

Partner with More Than a Bus through prayer, serving as a volunteer or giving financially.

Prayer

Pray for needs to be met of those we serve, relationships to be established, open hearts to hear the Gospel, finances, and willing hearts to serve 

Volunteer

 More Than a Bus is now serving in several locations

Tuesdays at Hope Warming Center on Baldwin Ave and Hope on Joslyn Rd in Pontiac

Thursdays at Noah Project and Team Wellness Eastern Market in Detroit

Saturdays at the Team Wellness Center on Mack Ave in Detroit

 

If you are interested in serving with the More Than a Bus ministry click below.  You will need to register first and then will be directed to Sign up Genius where you will choose the day you would like to serve.  We will meet at Simpson Park in Romeo at the start time listed on Sign up Genius for the day you serve and travel together on the bus to the location where we serve
